New Moon 06.08.13: Experience Being

(Just returned from a visit to Ontario where the love of trees was gratified in every moment by the lush stretches of woodland. All shades of green in great waves that traverse a gently rolling terrain so densely configured that creatures great and small reside in security and relative peace for now.  The heart does throb with delight.)

Feelings come and go like clouds in a windy sky. Conscious breathing is my anchor. ~Thích Nht Hnh

Tibetan masters speak of the Earth as a living, breathing entity to which all of nature is attuned. The New Moon phase they relate to the inhale, a time for connecting with the deeper aspect of one self, of calming the mind and being in a state of peace that we might listen to silence.

There are no aspects to this New Moon in Gemini. What is the story then, in the darkness, when the interior world is navigated without sight? There is no naming as nothing is seen. Thought is less likely to be engaged as there is very little input about which to comment, conjecture or surmise. We find our selves in a child-like state of observation without thought but with the capacity to just experience. Our eyes are open wide to everything around us. We have an opportunity to breathe deeply, (Gemini is the lungs and the breath) to expand the chest, to feel the ribs reach sideways to embrace the universe that rushes in. We are filled with everything and the body, a thin layer of skin around which we typically attach our identity is out of reach, beyond perception.

In Gemini we experience for the pure sake of experience and with Sun and Moon conjunct, we sense unity, our true state.

Dancing on the periphery, but none-the-less an active influence in the story, we find Mercury, ruler of Gemini squared by Uranus and in opposition to Pluto, outer planets that seek to evolve and transform in ways that yield results no matter what. Under the influence of these distant bodies an individual may feel inner stirrings and even stronger promptings to connect with that which apparently does not exist in time or within the conventional concept of reality. We may wander in search of the ‘guru’ that can lead us to the light of the eternal Self. With Mercury in square to Uranus we may even have that brilliant flash that illuminates the inner guru and the knowing that I am all that I seek.

And with this combination of aspects the piercing intuitive guidance experienced has the power to usher one toward a moment of supreme awareness that floods the mind and washes away old beliefs that have caused the stagnation of the breath. The inhale is a gasp, as though one has been held under water for a little too long. It is the first breath that signals life.

We cannot keep secrets or pretend that we do not know. Pretense, in the vast emptiness throbs like an infection ‘round a festering wound. The only thing to do is abide with what is and pretense subsides, slides into the silence. Mercury is in Cancer and operates from a non-verbal place, empathy and feeling dominate the communications arena. Silence is profound.

Supporting characters include Mars in square to Neptune and inconjunct or quincunx Saturn. Actions will be to resist desires of a physical nature; to determine how ancient fantasy drives us toward a need for satisfaction that leaves an individual in a perpetual state of desiring more; the burning thirst that cannot be quenched no matter how much water one drinks. Emotional exhaustion can be the result.

In harmonious aspect to Saturn/Neptune is Venus in Cancer forming a grand trine in water. Operating from a place of great sensitivity and intuition we are compelled to discover what fears and illusions prevent us from fully loving; where perceived need has carried us into a web of complex expression that is far from the simple truth that we are. There is feeling that connects with the source of all that the heart desires and provides all the security and assuredness necessary for Being; realization that as no-body there is no-thing I want or need as I am “that” already and always have been. Supreme confidence resides in the place of doubt, an occurrence that just happens.

It is not only during these few days that we have this opportunity to navigate what appear to be various levels of the conscious self. With Saturn in Scorpio and retrograde self-examination occurs as a matter of course. It is not as harsh as initially might be assumed. The action of Scorpio at this time is not destructive without reason but for the positive evolution of all situations and individuals that are a part of the one expression. We are all riding the wave of inhalation, tossing and turning each according to its own pattern of belief until release occurs, the patterns desist and there is no inhale, no exhalation only breath.

For those who have Saturn retrograde natally regardless of sign or house the purging process exceeds the limits of understanding. Incapable of putting words to experience, again, free to Be. For those who have any of these aspects or planetary configurations prominent in their charts, there may be the feeling of surging, opening and expanding as you simultaneously consider that “you” have never existed at all.
