“April’s air stirs in
Floats and balances”
― Matsuo Bashō, Japanese Haiku
It is the month ruled by Aries, the sign that bursts forth leaves, blades of grass, blossoms, insects and animals, when all things in nature are ecstatic about renewal. The air is charged with the energy of constant arrival. There is no containing the enthusiasm for emerging life. We all benefit from the positive atmosphere that crackles around us encouraging us to say yes and step forward! There is nothing shy about a field of sky Lupine or fiesta flowers rolling across the foothills or any male in pursuit of the female.
At the same time that atoms crash together in the process of creation there is a gentle aspect to what comes into being that requires a softer gaze, a lighter foot, a more tender touch as we engage with what has recently found its way into existence. By honoring the sacred gift of birth and life we become attuned to a rhythm that shocks us and rocks us; catches us by the throat as we try to be heard above cascading waterfalls the result of rains filling empty basins, yet lulls us into sweet slumber as we lie in the afternoon sun, cool heat pouring over us from a baby blue sky.
What we cannot help but notice is exquisite love, oozing from our pores in reply to the song of freedom being sung by every thing, every molecule, every atom the harmony of which is resonant with universal vibration.
“So the subatomic particles we see in nature, the quarks, the electrons are nothing but musical notes on a tiny vibrating string. What is physics? Physics is nothing but the laws of harmony that you can write on vibrating strings. What is chemistry? Chemistry is nothing but the melodies you can play on interacting vibrating strings. What is the universe? The universe is a symphony of vibrating strings. And then what is the mind of God that Albert Einstein eloquently wrote about for the last 30 years of his life? We now, for the first time in history have a candidate for the mind of God. It is, cosmic music resonating through 11 dimensional hyperspace. So first of all, we are nothing but melodies. We are nothing but cosmic music played out on vibrating strings and membranes.”—excerpt from a brief explanation given by Michio Kaku, co-founder of Field String Theory
Is it any wonder that the spirit soars in nature and that we feel joy for that, which is newly birthed, emitting energy straight from the source of all existence? It should be no wonder that this is us, no different than that which is the substance of everything. We too are a symphony of vibrating strings and here to play our melody in whatever form that manifests. Confusion is perhaps the result of ‘wandering’ far from our original score or thinking that we are separate from “that”. Spring is a good time to listen to the music.
April is the 4th month of the Gregorian calendar. The number 4 in numerology and the Emperor card in the Tarot, speaks of foundation—the start of what later will become success; the platform from which to gain considerable altitude as we proceed toward our goal. The springboard from which to take initiative, ride the waves, tackle the shadow; finds very little space in the brilliant light of spring. Confidence guides us upon our path, sailing the seas of discovery. If the journey is turbulent—look to your thoughts, if the journey is tranquil—there is inner peace at the helm and you lay way for many to follow in your expansive wake spread out with compassion. Together we sail on and on.
In April we ‘reap the rewards’ for all the seeds we have sown as illustrated in the 7 of pentacles Tarot card. 4+3=Mars+Jupiter=action plus expansion of wisdom. If we believe in cause and effect? here we have leaped the hurdle of thought-based action and turned the corner to allowing, accepting and relaxing in “that”=resolved karma or clearing the way for awakening=in that we rest, no effort required.
The month begins with Venus and Mars within 2 degrees of each other in Aries—a feisty conjunction to be sure! Invigorating, bold and determined. The pair remain within close proximity to one another until the middle of the month giving us ample opportunity to explore our passion for whatever we find our selves magnetically charged by. For some this may mean bonfires and BBQ while for others it could mean candlelight and champagne. Whatever turns you on. In the work world, an aggressive focus that won’t give up or give in. Party on!
I place the characteristics stated above with the Knight of Wands. He is on fire when it comes to determined, passionate embrace and pursuit of what he believes in. A force to be reckoned with as he navigates toward a goal. Pretty much sums up what has been said about April. There will be little rest for those who have the energy for it! Prevent forest fires and internal combustion by finding inner peace in order to bring balance to the rising tides. Even though jostled by an incoming breeze, a butterfly finds the slip stream.
