“If one feels the need of something grand, something infinite, something that makes one feel aware of God, one need not go far to find it. I think that I see something deeper, more infinite, more eternal than the ocean in the expression of the eyes of a little baby when it awakes in the morning and coos or laughs because it sees the sun shining on its cradle.”—Vincent Van Gogh
In some parts of the world spring presents it self with a gentle and subtle caress. A breeze, although still cool, that stirs a desire for longer days and lighter in so many ways—more daylight, lighter clothing (color and weight) and drifting with the warmth and sunshine that appeals greatly to the light-hearted joy of the inner child. No need to describe what goes on elsewhere. We choose to be here. There’s a reason for that. People come here to relax—from all over, if only temporarily, a year or two. Others stay, enchanted by the possibilities, by the potential for what in the beginning may not even be known. Springtime is all about possibility and potential. After a period of inner reflection/hibernation everything is prepared to experience anew. And like the newborn we are unencumbered by conditioning that would limit us. It is a good thought. Truth is that the ego will generate conditions, in our mind, that keep us in perpetual ignorance if we are oblivious to the nature of duality.
The definition of duality=being twofold; a classification into two opposed parts or subclasses; “the dichotomy between eastern and western culture”. The nature of duality invites comparison and comparison evolves into criticism then judgment but how else are we to discover the ‘deeper meaning’ of things if not through analysis. Then when we have dawdled sufficiently in reflection we are ready for the glimpse that sets us free—everything that is seen is “that”—everything.
The month of March, especially this March of 2013, there is an opportunity for growth and expansion into entirely new possibilities. Why would this be? Based upon the energy available for our evolutionary process that continues to increase, we may ponder the nature of our desires here in new light. We may know that we are in a perfect position to receive what our hearts truly desire. It would be advantageous to clean out the closet so that desire might appear more obvious. Spring cleaning? Not just a tiresome task but also one that brings clarity to confusion. Heaps of repetitive thoughts lay sequestered amongst the worn out shoes and clothes that are too big or too small to be of use. Time to get rid of it all! With one burst of energy sweep it out! Or be less influenced by what has created limitations.
For almost the first three weeks of March we experience five planets in Pisces—Sun Mercury Venus Chiron and Neptune. Mercury lingers close to Neptune for most of the month and is retrograde until the 17th. A very creative and intuitive relationship that might result in artistic mastery or if energies do not find appropriate outlet a plunge into what feels like insanity. One may discover the meaning behind the British phrase, “mad as a March hare”. Anxiety due to lack of expression, on whatever level one experiences excess energy, can leave one feeling rather incapable of normal functioning. It is fortunate that Saturn in Scorpio is in a loose trine to these two creating a container for the formless, boundless nature of their pairing. We won’t stray too far into delirium but far enough to latch onto the inner child who may regularly explore the distant edges of consciousness. Soul retrieval might be an effective way to capture the child that eludes many, a by-product of over zealous or controlling parenting, for the good of the child, that submerges the natural instinctive self.
Adventure, discovery and unlimited potential for being free to express who you are, this is March, a ‘keen’ month that carves away what is unnecessary. As the dross melts away, the truth is revealed—“that” I am, essentially giving one self permission to be that which one has always been. There is no need for permission nor is there a self to give permission. But in a sense one might recognize the forfeiture by the ego of control over the mind. The end of suffering; true Self-love, a task for all of us being affected by the Piscean arrangement of planets.
Pisces exists somewhere in everyone’s chart and there may lay the underlying issue as regards our self-esteem. Begin with the thread in the house ruled by Pisces and follow it to Neptune and the 12th house and all associations for insight into these issues. It may take courage to delve into the deep waters of our least accessible fears and that should be available as the month comes to a close. The Sun in Aries along with Venus Mars and Uranus offer strength, determination and an urge to change that prevails in the face of the most disarming concerns.
Three Tarot Cards for March
Page of Cups=inner child without inhibition. Connected to source, limitless imagination and intuitive knowing that exhibits moments of great joy and intermittent whimsy—spontaneous expression and in the moment authenticity.
Five of Cups=dissolution of the past. Movement away from limiting patterns of emotional expression. Memories have a way of bringing what we perceive has happened into now. Seldom do we remember events with accuracy. We set our selves up to suffer for no reason. Fives are change and we are responsible for that too.
Eight of Wands=success that happens quickly. There is no resistance only a focused determination for an outcome that serves the highest good. Victory is assured and harmony of spirit or inner peace is the result. Optimism and absolute knowing prevail.
Set the mind a task of embracing whatever may ‘be’ and thrive upon the objective that has no object and watch what comes, that is what is meant to be.
